Creating a Fun & Inclusive Experience for All
At Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, we are committed to ensuring that every guest, regardless of ability, can enjoy a fun, safe, and accessible experience. We’ve partnered with Nimbus Disability to assess eligibility for our Essential Companion Wristband (often referred to as a Carer’s Pass). This allows guests who require support to bring a carer on selected rides free of charge, once eligibility is confirmed by Nimbus and the wristband is issued by Ocean Beach Management on the day of the visit.
Apply via Nimbus Disability below.
Who Qualifies for an Essential Companion Pass?
To ensure our Essential Companion scheme supports those who need it most, eligibility is assessed exclusively by our partners, Nimbus Disability, using their secure Access Card system.
You are likely eligible if Nimbus determines that you:
- Require essential assistance from a carer or personal assistant to access our rides and attractions safely.
- Have a disability or medical condition where this support is necessary.
Successful assessment by Nimbus Disability provides proof of eligibility in one of two ways:
- An Access Card displaying the “+1” symbol (obtained via the paid Route Two application).
- A specific Nimbus ID number (obtained via the free Route One application for Ocean Beach visits only).
If you already hold a valid Access Card with the “+1” symbol, your eligibility is confirmed for the duration of the card’s validity. You do not need to re-apply; simply bring your Access Card when you visit.
How to Apply for Companion Pass Eligibility
Eligibility for our Essential Companion scheme is assessed online by Nimbus Disability. Please ensure you apply at least 7 days before your planned visit to allow processing time.
Follow these steps:
- Visit the Official Nimbus Application Portal for Ocean Beach.
- Complete the secure online form, providing necessary details and evidence directly to Nimbus Disability.
- Nimbus Disability will assess your application based on your support needs.
- Once approved by Nimbus, you will receive your proof of eligibility (either a Nimbus ID or an Access Card +1). Remember to bring this proof with you on the day of your visit.
When you apply via the portal link, you will choose one of two options:
• Route One (Free): Register your needs specifically for visits to Ocean Beach Pleasure Park. If approved, you’ll receive a Nimbus ID number as your proof of eligibility. This registration is valid at Ocean Beach for 3 years.
• Route Two (£15 fee): Apply for a full Access Card. If approved with the “+1” symbol, this card serves as your proof of eligibility and can be used at thousands of locations across the UK and beyond, including Ocean Beach. Your Access Card is valid for 3 years.

Terms & Conditions – Essential Companion Scheme
Please read the following carefully before applying and visiting:
Eligibility & Application (Handled Exclusively by Nimbus Disability):
- Eligibility is assessed exclusively online by Nimbus Disability via their Access Card system.
- Applications must be submitted through the official Nimbus portal for Ocean Beach at least 7 days before your visit.
- Ocean Beach Pleasure Park staff cannot assess eligibility, process applications directly, or accept alternative documents (like DLA/PIP letters or Blue Badges) as proof for this specific scheme. Eligibility proof must come from Nimbus.
Wristband Issuance (On the Day by Ocean Beach Management):
On the day of your visit, the physical Carer’s Wristband is issued by Ocean Beach Management, typically at Guest Services.
You must present your valid proof of eligibility obtained from Nimbus (either your Access Card displaying the “+1” symbol or your Nimbus ID number).
The guest requiring care must have purchased a Funcard with ride credits, as the scheme provides carer access alongside a paying guest.
Final issuance of the wristband on the day remains at the discretion of Ocean Beach Management, linked to valid proof and the paying guest requirement.
Using the Carer’s Wristband:
The wristband grants one designated carer (aged 16+) complimentary access to ride eligible attractions only when accompanying the guest they are supporting.
It does not provide free park entry or free Funcard credits for the carer or the guest.
Ride eligibility generally includes attractions with side-by-side seating (e.g., Pirate Ship, Twist, Waltzer). Access to single-seat rides (e.g., Miami Surf) is determined at the Ride Operator’s discretion based on safety and the practical ability to provide assistance.
Important Restrictions:
The designated carer may not use the wristband to ride alone under any circumstances.
Only one carer wristband can be issued per eligible guest unless awarded greater than +1 in the essential companion section by Nimbus
The wristband is strictly non-transferable between carers.
On exceptionally busy days (e.g., Good Friday, Bank Holidays, specified Special Events), issuance may be limited or subject to further Management discretion due to capacity and safety reasons.
Ocean Beach Management reserves the right to withdraw the wristband if terms are breached or it is misused.
Please note: The MAX Card scheme is not accepted at Ocean Beach Pleasure Park for carer discounts or proof of status.
